This project is about to design and implement some “generative posters”. These are dynamic posters that are generated from a dataset. So my team and I took the opportunity to highlight an increase in the number of events and damage caused by natural disasters. The number of extreme weather events in Italy is increasing exponentially year by year. What we wanted to show through the posters, is the perception of the impact of climate change on the Italian landscape, involving the public empathically. For this reason, we have visually mapped the damages of these catastrophic events, translating the destructive effects on the environment into a filter that destroys a photographic image. The whole project is fully data-driven and completely code-generated. The visuals are spawned based on the yearly impact of these cataclysmal events on the country. What you see here are just some examples mapped on the Italian scenario, but the experiment could have a wider scope and we could apply it on data from other nations and compare the results we would get.
